THE CHILDREN'S ATTACHMENT ATTITUDES AND BEHAVIORS SCALE

Until now, all of the standardized tests (tests with reliability and validity research) and non-standardized measures (tests that don't have reliability and validity research) that are available to assess children for Attachment Disorder (AD) have been parent-report tests. No test has looked at children's beliefs about their attachment problems, or at the behaviors that show if they do or don't have symptoms of an attachment disruption, of Attachment Disorder, of Oppositional Defiant Disorder, of psychopathic thinking, or of psychotic thinking and experiences.

With the introduction of the Children's Attachment Attitudes and Behaviors Scale (CAABS), there is now a test that can be given to children between 5 and 18, and that directly assesses for attachment attitudes, behaviors, disruptions, and disorders as well as for psychopathic beliefs, and psychotic experiences. Clinicians read this test to children, and then mark down whether each item is mostly true, a little bit true, a little bit false, or mostly false for the child.

The CAABS can be used both as a diagnostic tool, and as a clinical tool, as children can be allowed to answer how they wish they were, and then can be given the test again, and answer it the second time with what their behavior says is actually true for them. The two sets of results can be compared to help children work on how to get from where they are now to where they wish they could be, and so can be a highly useful clinical tool for children.

The CAABS test kit comes with 50 answer sheets, 50 scoring sheets, 10 questionnaires, the scoring templates, and the CAABS test manual, which contains instructions for administering, scoring and interpreting the results of the scales of the CAABS, as well as the reliability and validity findings that are currently available for the CAABS. Additional research is still being conducted to further validate the CAABS, and this information will be provided to test purchasers at no additional cost as it becomes available.
