RESEARCHING ATTACHMENT DISORDER: A Summary of the Research on Attachment Disorder, and the Effectiveness of Intensive Attachment Therapy

This booklet is a summary of the research that is presented in great detail in the book Broken Hearts; Wounded Minds. It is deigned primarily for a professional audience who either has a preference for reading a summary of the research findings (rather than the details in the much longer book), or who want to have a summary of that research that can be presented to judges, Social Service workers, legislators, and others who may need a brief summary of the research in order to be able to make decisions about placement of children, whether or not to move children from placement to placement, whether or not to refer children for intensive attachment therapy, and whether or not to pass legislation that would limit the techniques and uses of attachment therapy.

It presents the data on the differences in psychological functioning between children with Reactive Attachment Disorder and children with Attachmment Disorder, as well as between children with behavior problems, but who have no history of traumatization in early life. It presents the results of multiple studies that have used different psychological tests to assess the effectiveness of attachment therapy, as well as the results of a study that investigated whether or not intensive attachment therapy creates "trauma bonds" for children. While many clinicians have purchased Broken Hearts;Wounded Minds for their own use so that they can have the detailed resaerch results, a number have also purchased this highly useful booklet that they employ when wanting to briefly describe to others what the research findings are.
